Dr. Courtney Brightman

Dr. Courtney Brightman is a dynamic optometrist and dedicated mother. She’s smart and personable, two great traits that make her patients feel confident in her care. She provides state-of-the-art optometric care in Lincoln, NE.

Education and Life.

A true leader, Dr. Brightman served as the President of the Southeast Optometric Society from 2005-2008. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Nebraska Optometric Association. She is also a Volunteer Optometrist for Clinic With A Heart.

Courtney is married to fellow optometrist Dr. Brian Brightman and lives in Lincoln, NE.

Dr. Brian Brightman

Dr. Brightman has been with EyeCare Specialties since 2005 and serves patients in Lincoln, NE. As the resident walking dictionary, he would love to answer any questions you might have. His specialty is treatment of dry eye disease and he is certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy.

Education and Life.

He graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2002 and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Nebraska Optometric Association.

Dr. Brightman managed to use his charismatic approach to persuade fellow optometrist Dr. Courtney Brightman to marry him, and together they enjoy spending time with their two children.

The Brightmans enjoy living in Lincoln, NE and working as Eye Doctors at EyeCare Specialties.

Dr. James Devine

Devine is co-founder and President/CEO of EyeCare Specialties in Lincoln, NE. He brings years of experience to the EyeCare team as well as a wonderful chairside manner, demonstrating his enjoyment in caring for his patients. His genuine interest and concern for his patients continues to be a hallmark of Dr. Devine’s practice.

Education and Life.

Dr. Devine graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in 1983 and was chosen as Young Optometrist of the Year in 1988. In 1997, he was awarded Optometrist of the Year by the Nebraska Optometric Association.

He sat on the Board of the Nebraska Optometric Association from 1989-1999 and was President of the Nebraska Optometric Association in 1998. He has been on the Board of Directors for the Heart of America Contact Lens Society in Kansas City from 2000 through 2006. He is also a current member of the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Devine is married and has four children, enjoys many outside activities and involvement at his church.

Dr. Doug A. Harshman

Dr. Harshman joined EyeCare Specialties in February of 2010. Throughout his career, his patients have appreciated his honest and genuine approach to their eye care needs. He specializes in ocular disease and urgent care services and also provides comprehensive eye examinations, including contact lens fittings.

 

 

Education and Life.

Dr. Harshman is a Nebraska City native and graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University. He also attended the University of Houston College of Optometry.

In 2005, Dr. Harshman was honored with the distinction of Washington Young Optometrist of the Year. During his 11 years in practice, he has also enjoyed publishing and lecturing on ocular disease and volunteering at a local mission clinic.

Dr. Harshman enjoys attending New Covenant Community Church, spending time with his wife and two children, and playing and watching a variety of sports.

Dr. Brian Hinkley

Dr. Brian Hinkley has been practicing optometry for over 30 years. He is committed to educating patients about eye health and enhancing their quality of life with the latest advances in optometric technology. He provides routine and comprehensive eye health exams and specializes in contact lens care and presbyopic visual correction.

Education and Life.

A compassionate leader, Dr. Hinkley saw the vision needs of those less fortunate in Lincoln, NE. To serve those in need, he started an eye clinic at the Peoples City Mission. At the clinic, patients receive eye exams and are fitted with eyewear. For this demonstration of stewardship and service he was awarded the Service of Mankind Award.

Dr. Hinkley has served as the President of the Southeast Optometric Society. He is a member of the Nebraska Optometric Association and a 30-year member of the American Optometric Association.

A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Dr. Hinkley enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys swinging his golf clubs when the weather permits, playing racquetball and hiking in the great outdoors.

Dr. Nicole Morrissey

Nicole Morrissey, OD joined EyeCare Specialties in 2008 to serve our Beatrice patients. She provides both routine and comprehensive eye health exams. A member of the Nebraska Optometry Association and the American Optometry Association, Dr. Morrissey provides state-of-the-art optometric care to all of her patients. In addition, she works with children to overcome vision disorders through the vision therapy program.

Education and Life.

An honors graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Dr. Morrissey went on to study optometry at Northeastern State University College of Optometry.

In optometric school, Dr. Morrissey served as the President of the Women in Optometry Association. Globally, she traveled to El Salvador to provide eye health services to those in need.

Dr. Morrissey is active in the Beatrice community and enjoys spending time with her family.

Dr. Todd Pfeil

Todd Pfeil, OD has been with EyeCare Specialties since 2005. He provides both routine and comprehensive eye health exams and specializes in Specialty Contact Lens fits including keratoconus and corneal refractive therapy (CRT). He is a member of the American Optometric Association, including the following Sections: Sports Vision, Contact Lens and Cornea and Low Vision Rehabilitation. He is also a member of the Nebraska Optometric Association.

Education and Life.

Dr. Pfeil graduated from the Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR in 2005. His optometric training includes time with Washington State School for the Blind, Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL, Discover Vision in Kansas City and Pacific Clearvision in Eugene, OR.

Committed to the common good, Dr. Pfeil is using his optometry expertise to help others. Together with Trinity House School (Lekol Sen Trinite), he is setting up a vision clinic in Jacmel, Haiti.

Dr. Pfeil is married and enjoys spending time with his growing family that has recently welcomed newborn twins. They are members of Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Todd and his wife enjoy running in half and full marathons together.

Dr. Scott Reins

Dr. Reins joined EyeCare Specialties in 1996. Everyday his confident and easy going personality is evident while treating patients and working with the EyeCare Specialties team. He is actively involved in the latest in the optometry field and is continually educating patients about the latest optometric advancements.

Education and Life.

Dr. Reins is active in the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the AOA’s Sport Vision Section. Locally, he served three terms on the Nebraska Optometric Association’s Board of Directors. He was also the Southeast Society’s President for four years and in 2002 was named Nebraska Young Optometrist of the Year.

A leader in and out of the clinic, Dr. Reins has volunteered his time with the Special Olympics Opening Eyes Program, Heartland Big Brothers/Big Sisters and recently participated in an optometric mission trip to Honduras. He also is active in his church.

Dr. Reins enjoys spending time with his wife Kristi and his two step-daughters and traveling to various mountain ranges. He enjoys golfing, running half-marathons and skiing.

Dr. Steve Sandman

Steve Sandman, OD, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for his patients. Raised in Diller, NE, Dr. Sandman understands the needs of his community. He has been with EyeCare Specialties in Beatrice since 1995 and continually provides the latest optometric technologies combined with honest and compassionate care.

Education and Life.

Dr. Sandman serves in many capacities in the Beatrice community. He is the current President of the Beatrice Public Library Foundation. In addition, he is on the St. Paul Lutheran Church Board of Parish Education and the Health Systems, Inc. Board of the Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center.

Dr. Sandman is also active in his family’s telecommunications business, Diller Telephone Company and Diode Communications, located in Diller, NE. They offer telephone, DirecTV and high-speed internet to southeast Nebraska and northeast Kansas.

A true Nebraskan, Dr. Sandman loves to cheer on the Huskers with his family. Together they enjoy local sporting events, vacationing in the Ozarks and spending quality time together.

Dr. Kimberley Tucker

Dr. Tucker joined EyeCare Specialties in 2000. A compassionate and talented optometrist, Dr. Tucker practices full-scope primary care optometry including post-operative care, pediatric optometry and ocular disease detection and treatment.

Education and Life.

She graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2000. Dr. Tucker was also an assistant instructor at the Indiana University School of Optometry where she taught Ophthalmic and Diagnostic Procedures.

Dr. Tucker has been a member of the American Optometric Association since 1996, the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity since 1998, and the Nebraska Optometric Association since 2000.

Dr. Tucker enjoys spending time with her family.
