Rachel Smith, OD Earns FellowshipJune 6th, 2017
On April 28, 2017, Rachel Smith, O.D., from EyeCare Specialties’ Center for Vision Development was named a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. This means that she has shown advanced expertise in the areas of vision development, binocular vision, vision information processing and vision therapy.
To earn her fellowship, Dr. Smith needed to be treating patients for at least three years in those areas, as well as complete a series of essays and reports on patients with specific vision diagnoses. She also needed to pass a written and oral exam by members of the committee and show her competency in front of her peers.
EyeCare Specialties’ Center for Vision Development assists patients who have vision difficulties that can not be treated with corrective eyewear alone. They treat a wide variety of patients including children who may be struggling in school, adults who experience computer fatigue syndrome and patients who have experienced head trauma and have difficulty with their vision.
