Meet our Team
Our Vision Therapy team is made up of experts who have years of experience in treating patients with many different visual disorders.
Rachel Smith, OD
Dr. Smith is passionate about vision therapy. Her dedication to help children and adults accomplish better vision motivates her every day. Her sincerity and charm engage patients and encourages them for best outcomes.
Originally from York, NE, Dr. Smith graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. She earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in May of 2013. Dr. Smith completed an additional year of comprehensive binocular vision and pediatric specialty training in Omaha after she graduated.
Dr. Smith came to realize the benefits of vision therapy after being diagnosed with a binocular vision disorder. It was her experience as a patient through the Vision Therapy program at EyeCare Specialties that inspired her to become an optometrist. She is excited to help kids and adults improve reading comprehension and achieve success in school or in their careers.
When I first started, I was skipping lines and couldn’t tell left or right apart. After my experience at EyeCare Specialties, those problems are resolved. This has been an awesome experience!
Miya 12yrs | Lincoln, NE
Rose was born to work with children. She’s the best combination of your favorite teacher, neighbor and aunt. It’s obvious she genuinely cares about each and every patient.
Rose is a life-time Lincolnite. She has always loved working with children and worked at Lincoln Public Schools as a paraeducator for 10 years before coming to EyeCare Specialties. She has been helping children and adults improve their vision and change their lives for 15 years as a vision therapist.
Erin’s easy-going personality and passion for children have made her a huge asset at the clinic. She has a knack for getting patients to do the “work” of therapy, all the while having a ball doing it.
Erin has worked for EyeCare Specialties since 2008 with the past six years in the Vision Therapy program. She enjoys helping patients feel more confident in their lives and watching their progress.
Kim has been a vision therapist for four years. She discovered Vision Therapy when her own son had vision issues. She combined that experience with her background in childcare and discovered that a career in vision therapy was a natural fit.
One of the things that Kim likes most about her job is seeing patients experience life change. Patients can see that goals are achievable and that makes her excited to come to work every day.
Kelsey’s background focused on educational development and fostering learning skills. She discovered Vision Therapy and became fascinated with the idea of helping a child’s visual system in order to help them do better in school and in life. Also as an English major, anything she could do to help develop a love of reading was exciting to her.
She enjoys working one-on-one with patients and finding out which activities help them to become motivated and achieve their goals.
